VITAMIN C – a multi-purpose ingredient for the skin
What do you think of when you hear the word vitamin C? Most people associate vitamin C with medications for flu and citruses, as it protects cells from oxidative stress and plays an important role in collagen production. Vitamin C is not usable only for consuming, the versatile vitamin has also become increasingly popular in the cosmetics industry in recent years. It is used for many skin problems – it has lightening functions for hyperpigmentation, protects the skin from reddness and UVB light, has a beneficial effect on acne, an anti-inflammatory effect and promotes collagen synthesis.
Examples of studies where participants used vitamin C
Vitamin C is a multi-functional ingredient that helps with various skin problems.
Example 1 (10% of vitamin C used).

B) Visible improvement in texture and wrinkles is visible after 90 days of topical application of vitamin C.
Example 2 (used cosmetics with vitamin C)

B) Reduces skin irritation on the face, the skin is nourished and moisturized, there is no dry area on the cheeks and chin, reduced pigmentation around the lips, chin and forehead.

Formulating with vitamin C
Formulating with vitamin C is quite challenging for homemade cosmetics as vitamin C is sensitive to light and air, and is inherently unstable. If formulated incorrectly it will turn brown and formulation spoilage will occur very quickly. Besides, there aremany different forms of vitamin C, from which we can choose and they have different effect on the skin. Cosmetic products that contain vitamin C must be protected from light and heat. Therefore, we use tinted glass packaging that does not transmit light, pump packaging, capsules,… Do not use containers with open lids and transparent packaging.

Formuliranje z vitaminom C
